One of the nice things about duffle bags is that they are easy to just grab and go. They are perfect for spur of the moment trips and long weekends, and who among us doesn’t need a nice long weekend sometimes just to get away from the stresses that we face in life. After all, stress is a contributing factor to a number of diseases so getting rid of it is a good thing. As an added bonus, short trips don’t cost as much as long vacations, don’t require as much preparation or luggage, so therefore can be a great source of relaxation and enjoyment.
One of the places that makes a nice place to visit for a long weekend is Atlanta. This vibrant city has many attractions and places of interest. One of those places is Olympic Park. Located in Midtown Atlanta, this beautiful park is within easy walking distance of the Coca Cola Museum and the Georgia Aquarium. Both of these locations are a great way to spend an afternoon. The Coca Cola Museum has a very Disney like feel with lots of things to do and reasonably priced tickets. The Georgia Aquarium is just that, an aquarium and reportedly one of best. If you have kids, the aquarium is an especially good place to go.
Now, since a long weekend only gives you a couple of nights, you and your rolling duffle bags can travel to the historic Georgian Terrace. While not necessarily as ritzy as the downtown Ritz Carlton or Westin, this hotel has large rooms and some pretty interesting architecture. It is also reasonable priced and across the street from the historic Fox Theater. So after a day at Olympic Park, you could catch a show at the Fox if you liked.
Of course, what would a vacation be without food and downtown Atlanta has some great choices. For those who are musically inclined, Hard Rock Atlanta is right downtown. There are many five start restaurants in the downtown hotels as well as a collection of inexpensive eateries that will provide a grand experience.
Getting to Atlanta is a snap also. Atlanta one of the main hubs for Delta Airlines and cheap fares are easy to get. If you drive, there are sights along the way that you could stop at. For the auto enthusiast, the BMW plant is located along I-85 in South Carolina and Talladega speedway is on I-20 through Alabama. For the Civil War enthusiast, Andersonville and the national Prisoner of War Museum is right down I-75. You could even visit historic Stone Mountain during your stay for a bit of history and nature.
There are lots of easy places to go for a weekend getaway and it is a great idea to do that from time to time, just get away. Leave the stress of the worry behind for a couple of days. Sleep late a little and see some different scenery. Just remember to leave some room in your rolling duffle bags for souvenirs.
